A Tuesday that feels like a Monday? I’ll take it. I hope those of you who also had yesterday off enjoyed a nice long weekend! I decided not to post yesterday so I’m catching up today with my recap of Week 5.
Monday: 5 miles easy, hip and core exercises. It was really hot and humid out, and this was following my 10k on Saturday and 10 miler on Sunday, so I kept it super slow.
Tuesday: 6 miles with middle 4 at GMP (8:18, 8:13, 8:16, 8:18)
Wednesday: Total body strength workout, hip and core exercises
Thursday: 5 miles easy, hip and core exercises
Friday: Rest
Saturday: 12 miles @ 7:49 pace (Charles St 12- recap to come tomorrow!)
Sunday: 5 miles easy. I had stayed at my parent’s on Saturday night so I drove to a nearby development for this run on Sunday morning (there’s very limited places to run directly near their house) and the change in scenery was nice.
All in all a good week of training! I will recap Saturday’s race in further detail tomorrow, but after the race we did some errands and then met my parents, sister, and her boyfriend to celebrate my mom’s birthday. No food pics but I’m sure you can imagine a post-race meal including bread, steak, and of course, lots of wine.
This is from my sister’s Facebook post. We kept telling people at the restaurant that it was her 30th. We don’t need to point out the fact that her oldest daughter is almost 32:)
On Sunday we hung out at their house for a bit in the morning and then did grocery shopping, meal prep for the week, and some cleaning. Then we had a few beers out on our porch before dinner, wondering where the summer went. How can it already be Labor Day Weekend?
On Monday we made one last trip to the pool for the season. No pics from this time around, but it looked pretty much the same as last time.
Of course, the last day of a long weekend needs to end on a high note, right? So homemade pizza and wine was the way to go.
Now- moving into week 6 of marathon training! And I have my first track workout in a month today (which I will be doing shortly after this publishes)!
How was your weekend?
How were your workouts last week?
Do you ever lie/joke about your age on your birthday?
You can also check out week 4 of training here!

Looking forward to the race recap! Looks like you had a great weekend, it’s nice that today is already Tuesday, isn’t it? Happy birthday to your mom!

I am definitely hoping that this week goes by quickly with having Monday off!
Michele @ paleorunningmomma says
You did so amazing in that race and I’m excited for the recap! My grandma used to say she was 39 even when my dad was well into his 40s and my sister totally bought it for the longest time 🙂 happy birthday to your mom! She can be 30 if she wants.
[email protected] says
I remember one of my moms friends telling us she was 19 for the longest time (this was when I was like 7). It took a while for me to catch on and realize she was actually the same age as my parents!
Marcia says
Strong week and look at that Charles St. race time! Can’t wait to hear more about it! It was wonderful to have a long weekend!
[email protected] says
Thank you! I agree- long weekends are the best!
Susie @ SuzLyfe says
I love telling people that it’s someone’s birthday. I haven’t done that in a really long time. Way better if it is a tex mex restaurant with a mariachi band that comes over and sings to them. Happy birthday to your mom!
[email protected] says
Haha that would have been a fun bday celebration for sure!
Lesq says
You did awesome in the race. Looking forward to hearing about it!!! You and your mom look soooooo much a like. Actually you look like sisters. This summer was so HOT and in my daily running I just got use to it, but the humidity was endless. However, I kept telling myself I will not be thrilled with the two degrees weather we get either.
[email protected] says
I am sure my mom will appreciate hearing that!:) I can handle the heat/humidity (although Im a little sick of it now), but I am definitely not looking forward to the winter.
Sam @ See Sam Run says
It looks like you had a great LDW! Your homemade pizza looks so good, but so does everything else you share pictures of. I have some naan to make pizza with this week, which I’m looking forward to! I started a new weight training program last week which left me sore, but feeling good.
[email protected] says
Its always good to be sore in new way, right?!
Grace @ Diary of a Runniny Snail says
Sounds like a really nice last weekend of summer!! Looking forward to your race recap:)
That pizza looks to die for… And even better than restaurant pizza?! What’s your secret?!
Happy birthday to your mom! I love birthdays, they are always a ton of fun!
[email protected] says
Haha I don’t think I have a secret to the pizza! We buy store bought dough and just use lots of yummy ingredients:) Fresh mozzarella is key, I think.
Megan @ Meg Go Run says
I can’t wait to hear about your race! That is a great pace for 12 miles!
[email protected] says
Thanks!
Heather@hungryforbalance says
Great job at the race!
Happy late birthday to your mama! It looks like you guys had fun (especially with the restaurant staff 😉 )
I’m glad you had some relaxing time this weekend. And I love that you put broccoli on your pizza!
[email protected] says
It definitely makes me feel better to add some veggies to my pizza:)
Laura @ This Runner's Recipes says
You ran an amazing time at the race and I’m excited to read your recap! Your homemade pizza looks so good. Happy birthday to your mom!

Thank you!
Annie R says
That pizza looks AMAZING!
Also you killed your 12 mile run, that’s awesome!
Sounds like you had a good balance between a healthy and fun weekend. Excited to read your recap tomorrow!
[email protected] says
It was definitely a perfect balance between healthy and fun- gotta love weekends like that!
Sue @ This Mama Runs for Cupcakes says
Today is my birthday and I really want to start lying about my age….it’s scaring me, I am now one year from 40 *gasp*!! Great job on the 12 miler, that’s a pretty impressive pace! Congrats!
[email protected] says
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! I feel like right now I am in a comfortable place with my age, and I don’t mind telling it to people. Not sure what age I will start to wish I was younger but I would imagine it will start happening in the next 5-10 years.
Jamie says
Weekend went by far too fast! But it was nice having that extra day to relax. My step dad made a good point… we should have a three day weekend every month. Give everyone an extra pep in their step! Sometimes I forget how old I am, and often times I respond by saying 25 (truly without thinking). But more often than not my boyfriend is there to correct/remind me that I am in fact almost 28. Eesh! Hope you have a fabulous Tuesday!
[email protected] says
3 day weekends are the best…and I agree with your step dad! I had a hard time getting through my late 20s…I found once I made it into my 30s it was much easier to accept my age and just embrace it:)
Suzy says
Awe, great weekend. That’s awesome. I haven’t lied about my age, but I’ve forgotten how old I’m turning on several occasions. I remember being a kid and just shocked that my parents would ever forget how old they are, and now I get it. It’s a little embarrassing.
[email protected] says
I always forget how old I am! Its been happening since I was in my late 20s. I think its just because I don’t pay attention to it and the years are just flying by.
heather says
I used to lie and say I was 29 all the time, but as I have entered into the forties I am proud to say that I am 44 because people are shocked. Which actually makes me feel good!!!! I had a very uneventful weekend, and my workout last week mostly consisted of spinning, and strenth since my leg decided to take a vacay. Plan on running today and see how it feels. Have a great Tuesday!!!

People are usually surprised to hear that I am almost 32! It does feel good…although I never get carded anymore, which only stopped happening about a year ago so I guess I no longer look like Im in my 20s:) Hope you have a good run today!
Michelle says
Wow great job!!!!!! You are doing amazing! That pizza looks delish by the way. And yes…every year I have an anniversary of my 29th birthday…although sadly I’ve lost count, HAHA!
[email protected] says
That’s ok because you can be 29 as many times as you want- no one needs to know how many times it’s happened:)
Lesley says
I’ve been telling people if you still want summer, come down to Texas. We’re supposed to go down to the 80s after tomorrow.
[email protected] says
Maybe I will need to take you up on that in a couple of months! A break from the heat will be nice, but I am so not ready for winter.
Monica says
I’m in Texas too! We’ve had a pretty mild summer aside from the humidity. GAG! Not used to that in my corner of TX. Supposed to be 79 here Saturday. Perfect for my 10K!!!!!
Sarah @pickyrunner says
Wooo another great week of training! And an awesome race 🙂 Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on it!
[email protected] says
Thanks! I was happy that I at least drafted the race recap yesterday before I forgot too much about the race! Always a fun one!
[email protected] says
Great job on your workouts for the wk. Soon enough it won’t be as hot out so we just have to enjoy it while it lasts. It’s always fun celebrating someone’s bday. Sounds like you had a great wkend.
[email protected] says
Thanks! The break from the heat will be nice, but I am not at all ready for winter!
Alyssa @ renaissancerunnergirl says
Loving the sunrise workout photos! My weekend was filled with the Djmbo Diuble Dare race challenge, a 10k and then a half. I took them both easy and had an amazing time 🙂
[email protected] says
Sounds like you had an amazing weekend!!
Monica says
That’s a fantastic pace on that 12-miler! Excited for the recap!
That pizza looks UNREAL! Now that’s what I’m craving. Grocery store, here I come!
I’ve never lied about my age. I’ve joked about being 29 and holding but, I’m proud to be 41 (42 in a month). Also, It put me in a new bracket…masters! YIKES! Anyways, those 30-somethings are FAST so I totally embrace hanging with the 40’s crowd. My placing has significantly increased!!!!!
[email protected] says
Thank you!
I can relate to enjoying the easier age bracket- I have found so far that 30s are better than 20s!
HoHo Runs says
Congrats on a great 12 mile race! Your Mom looks awesome in that picture. I used to say I was 29 all the time. And my kids (when they were little) believed it…every year. HA. It looks like you’ve got on a flip belt in your pic. Does it stay in place? I haven’t had much luck with other brands. Thanks for linking up with us!
[email protected] says
Thanks! Yes its a flip belt. I stays in place really well for me. I get nervous about putting my key in there, but everything else stays nicely and it doesn’t bounce much at all!
Tricia@MissSippipiddlin says
Can’t wait to hear about your race! You mom could totally pass for 30!!! She looks amazing, now we know where you get it from! 🙂 Thanks for linking up with us this week!

Thanks!:)

Lisa, I’ve been thinking of you this morning; have an acquaintance (through running, of course!) who has offered me a place to stay if I want to run the half in Tulsa; after my race this weekend, I’m a little leery of anything with hills – ha! Have you done this one before? I’ve heard it’s pretty hilly! You’re doing great with your training and I’m so glad that you had a lovely time with family, celebrating your mom’s birthday! What fun! Hope you’re having a great day!
[email protected] says
I’ve heard from a few runners who have done the race before that there are quite a few hills. Not the toughest race ever, but not super easy either. It would be so fun to meet you if you did decide to run it!
Annette @ Sweating Through Life says
Sometimes I say the wrong age, but it truly is always an accident. Especially since I usually say older than I am!!! Serious brain farts happening there. And that picture of your mom is so adorable!
[email protected] says
I actually go to say that I am older than I really am for some reason too! I think its because my husband is a little over a year older than me but I always think I am whatever age he is.
Hailey says
Can’t wait to read your recap! Sounds like the perfect Labor Day weekend with family (and pizza haha) that’s how mine was spent too 🙂 People usually joke about me turning an age younger than I actually am. It used to bother me, but now that I’m older I don’t really mind!
[email protected] says
People have always told me I look younger than I am- which I didn’t like when I was a teenager or in my early 20s but now I am perfectly ok with it:)
Kristina says
You are definitely your mother’s daughter – both gorgeous and so similar looking!
Happy 30th to your mom and congrats on what looks like a great race at the Charles St 12!

Aw thanks!:)
